New author Sue Reed writes tale of nature connection for young people
‘The Rewilding of Molly McFlynn’ is the first full-length novel from writer, Sue Reed and is available to buy through her website now.
The novel follows the experiences of Molly McFlynn when she is forced to move from the city to rural Northumberland during the COVID-19 pandemic. She lives with her eccentric grandparents and learns to re-connect with the natural world as she is served up home grown vegetables for dinner and forced to live without her friends and favourite technology.
Sue is a new writer and has studied Creative Writing at Newcastle University and has based the book upon her lifestyle in rural Northumberland. She says she has always grown her own fruit and vegetables and likes to eat seasonally. Sue writes about her sustainable lifestyle online at the Bridge Cottage Way.
Like so many people, Sue was shocked when she heard about the felling of the iconic Sycamore Gap tree and recently went to see the stump on Hadrian’s Wall. She says that this might make the plot of a future book.
This could make the perfect Christmas present for an avid young reader needing to escape into a beautifully constructed world of witches, wildlife and plants.
