Q: Hope you may be able to give me some advice. I have an Australis Atropurpurea the top of which has been damaged by the snow. The top leaves are drooping/broken over and have turned to a washed out colour. Is there anything I can do about this or should I just leave it to see how it goes? Many thanks, Lynne
A: My advice is to leave well alone. Severe winter damage does not need attending to until early May. Any completely dead leaves could be removed. Always check for soft stems and if in May there is no sign of life to the top of the plant cut back to any shoots that may arise at the base.
