Begonias
Q: Dear Ken, I need your help!! This year is the first time that I have had begonias for my pots and baskets and I have about 60 odd in number. The varieties are Apricot Shades, Inferno and Illuminations. The begonias are still blooming and I don’t know whether I should be lifting them now to overwinter them or whether I should leave them for a while and keep watering. It seems a shame to have to lift the begonias and cut off all the blooms and foliage. What should I do? Your early reply would be much appreciated. Thank you in anticipation. Heather, Gt. Bromley
A: I always wait for the frost to Zap the foliage and flowers before taking the begonias up, then dry the corms slightly outside then keep frost free until totally dry after which you can store in nets or even dry peat or shavings. Hope this helps.
